Ah Yin

Ah Yin grew up in a hundred square feet with seven people, a turtle, a goldfish, and a cat.

His mother sold newspapers outside in Kowloon City at a newspaper stall, and his father was a drug addict. And so he had to look after his younger sisters and could not be educated.

Of course, he joined a gang, and they moved six or seven times, and he ended up in prison many times. Absolutely hopeless, couldn't see any way out—until he met Jesus in the Walled City when he worshipped with us and never looked back.

Well, that's not quite true. He came off drugs painlessly by praying in tongues, but then, a few months after living with us, he had a stroke and was in hospital for a year. He taught himself to speak by worshipping all the way through our songbook with a recorder, and he taught himself to walk.

So he's somebody that knows sadness and courage, and he's the one that all our people go to when they're in trouble because they know he's suffered and has come through with Jesus. And many of his family have come to Jesus since then.
